Thorpe and District Gardening Club
Thorpe and District Gardening Club was established in the 1940’s when an older garden and allotment group decided to split into separate sections, its present name adopted around 20 years ago. We are affiliated to both the Norfolk and Norwich Horticultural Society and Royal Horticultural Society
Our members are a friendly bunch, many have been friends for many years, while others have built up friendships along the way. We are far from all being “experts”, but we have a mix of abilities when it comes to knowledge and are always happy to learn more.
The club has always tried to help local charities by making donations and holding special events , and been involved with projects for children over the years in various ways, supporting wildlife projects and planting trees through links to other groups.
We hold monthly meetings with speakers talking on a wide range of subjects related to gardening and the environment. We hold public plant sales to support the club financially allowing us to help keep membership fees as low as possible and also to do our charity donations. Our plant sales allow us to meet the public and also allows members to get together in a informal way.
We hold a buffet in October (included in membership) and a lunchtime meal in Spring (extra cost), do occasional visits and issue a monthly newsletter, we also have a Facebook Page – Thorpe and District Gardening Club.
