Thurlton & District Horticultural Club
and is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society.
Our members sometimes think that “Horticultural” is too grand a title
for our friendly group of gardeners.
We are not all experts and can always learn something about gardening from someone else.
One of the aims of our Constitution is “to support local charities
and undertake projects to improve the local environment.”
Whenever we have surplus funds we ask members to approve
donations to local charities.
We are also involved in bulb planting around public areas in local villages,
and planted trees to celebrate the Millennium.
On the first Wednesday of each month the Club holds meetings with invited speakers at the village hall.
In the summer arrangements are made to
visit local gardens and places of horticultural interest.
Additional trips are arranged further afield at extra cost to members.
Social events run throughout the year – barbeque and a Christmas lunch.
Every two years the Club organises the
Thurlton Open Gardens Day when a number of members open their gardens to the public. The next Thurlton Open Gardens Day will be in 2017. A quarterly newsletter and events programme is produced.
